There's No Place Like Belmont!

Located in Gaston County, the historic town of Belmont is located 15 miles west of uptown Charlotte and is a great place to live and play.  Bordered by the Catawba River, the South Fork and Lake Wylie there are ample opportunities for fishing, swimming and other water sports close by.

Originally settled by the Dutch in the 1750's, the area eventually became the site of multiple textile mills founded by the Stowe family. Following the Civil War Abram Stowe developed downtown around his mercantile store and the rail depot. The area then became known as Garibaldi Station in honor of John Garibaldi, who had overseen construction of the nearby water tower.  In the late 1870's, a 500 acre farm adjacent to Garibaldi Station was gifted to Benedictine Monks for a monastery and school.  The Bishop suggested changing the name of the town to Belmont, meaning "beautiful mountain", a reference to the view of Crowder's Mountain in the distance.

Home to Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens, Belmont Abbey and the US National Whitewater Center are a few of the attractions that make Belmont so attractive!! Message us to find your perfect home in this great town!
